Funky Medium Hairstyles

If you’re looking to add a little zest to your style, don a new, funky ‘do. Getting rid of your current ho-hum hair in favor of a retro, modern or even rocker-girl hairstyle will win you tons of compliments on your fearless style.
Monroe Curls
For a sexy 1950s pinup style that none of your friends will have the guts to wear, try Marilyn Monroe curls. Although you may think that replicating her look takes several hours, it is fairly easy to pull off and requires a 25-minute time commitment–only five of them being hands-on. Place hot rollers in unwashed hair; place large rollers at the top of the head, medium rollers on the sides and small rollers at the bottom. Allow rollers to completely cool (about 20 minutes) before removing. Run your fingers through your hair to slightly break up curls; brush out bangs; and spray hairspray for a lasting look.
Shoulder-length Bob
Although it seems like everyone is rocking a bob these days, the truth is that if you’ve got a bit of baggage in the neck area, a classic chin-length bob won’t be very flattering on you. For a more flattering bob with a funky twist, try an asymmetrical shoulder-length bob like the one worn by R&B sensation Rihanna. Ask your hairstylist for an asymmetrical shoulder-length bob that starts at the nape of your neck with body on the shorter side.
Scene Hair
Scene hair is emo hair taken to the next level. Scene hairstyles have caused a bit of controversy in the emo community because of their no-boundary styles and colors. To get your rockin’ scene hair, ask your stylist for razored layers that stop at the shoulder, as well as side-swept bangs and a few bright streaks in the bangs. To style your hair on a daily basis in true scene style, backcomb hair and douse with hairspray for a rock-hard beehive.
