To repair dry, damaged hair, protect your hair while asleep, apply conditioner daily and avoid over-shampooing, over-coloring and over-heating while styling.
If your hair is dull, lacking in moisture and difficult to manage and maintain, you have dry hair. Your hair may become overly dry for any number of reasons. Your hair might be naturally dry due to genetics or it could be as a result of environmental/lifestyle factors. Fortunately, there are a few products, including Moroccan hair oil and other treatments, made specifically to care for dry hair. Additionally, there are some ways to fix dry hair which include.
Don’t apply hair dyes too frequently
Although not everyone experiences issues as a result of coloring their hair, sometimes hair dyes can cause the hair to dry out, particularly if bleach is an included ingredient. You can wait to color your hair until it becomes healthier, or if you can opt for a color rinse which is gentler on the hair.
Don’t apply excessive heat to style the hair
Blow drying, styling your hair with heating curling rods, combs and flat irons is very common, however, these gadgets can make your hair dry. Heat damages the hair and may strip it of necessary moisture. It is not advisable to use heat styling devices on your hair regularly. If your hair is dry and dull from using these devices daily, you may want to take a break from heat styling to let your hair get over the damage done. You can also experiment with alternative styling options such as wet wraps, wet sets and air drying which are milder alternatives to heat styling.
Even when you are sleeping, provide cover for your hair
You may be unaware of this, but while you are asleep, your hair rubs against the material of your bed linens, and some fabrics such as cotton can dry your hair. You can protect your hair by wearing a night cap made of soft fabrics such as silk or satin. You can also choose to change your pillowcases and bed sheets with similar types of fabric.
Don’t shampoo your hair too often
Your hair can turn to be dry thanks to the over-shampooing of your hair which in turn results the hair being divested of their natural oils and a moderate amount of wetness. During the hot summer or if you work out regularly, it is often hard to avoid constant shampooing because it is necessary to remove dirt and sweat from your scalp and hair. One way to combat the damage of over-shampooing is to give your hair regular applications of conditioner.
Use hair conditioner once a day
To maintain hair’s softness and moisture levels, conditioning rinses are ideal. If your hair is becoming dry, you can deep condition it to help restore its natural moisture. You don’t need a hood hair dryer to deep condition your locks. Liberally apply a deep condition and cover with a shower cap for a few hours. If your hair is severely dry, try using a penetrating hair conditioner every week.
If you have dry hair, caring for it doesn’t have to be difficult. Often, choosing the products specifically for your type of hair is all it takes to maintain healthy and beautiful hair.
