One trend that seems like it’ll be around forever is the braided hairstyle. Ever since the beginning of hairstyling and stylists, braid hair style has been popular! Braids go beyond age, beyond race and even beyond gender in some cases!

Braid hair styles work so effectively because they are a unique and practical way to deal with long hair. Here’s why: If you have a longer hair style, and don’t want to cut it just because the warm summer months are coming up you can simply braid it and forget it! Braids simply keep the head cooler by allowing more ventilation, so hot July days are cooler then ever! As long as the wearer attempts to protect their head, they will have no problem wearing the braids for several days at a time!

How are braids formed? Braids are made by parting the hair into three separate parts. These three ’sections’ are simply interweaved until you finish the hair. While it is simple to do, in order to achieve maximum braiding it could take up to three hours to complete the process! The longer the hair, the longer it will generally take to braid it! Of course, once you learn the techniques of braiding it will go by faster and you may even be able to teach yourself how to braid your own hair (which isn’t an easy task!).

Braid hair styles can be varied in the way they appear by having bangs or tendrils in front and buns and chignons in back! You can also play around with overhand and underhand braiding for easy variations. Another popular thing that women do with braids is equip them with accessories such as colored ribbons, pearls, flowers or jewels. These accessories make the braid hair style look more casual and fun then it normally would and of course it adds flavor and brightness! If you’re going to use accessories, first make sure you hair spray your braids in place to make sure they won’t come undone just because of your additions!

Micro braids are a braid hair style that is pretty popular among African American women and it consists of weaving thin braids across the top of the head. This style is used often by women who want a more maintenance free braid that requires less technical work. Typically a micro braid session lasts half as long as a normal braiding session.
